FC Selects Wins Paul Louis Arena Spring Series Tournament
Flour City Hockey Club picked up its first ever tournament championship in the Paul Louis Arena Spring Tournament Series. FC Selects went 4-1 overall in the tournament, outscoring opponents 18-9 on the weekend.
The pivotal moment for the team game in the semifinal matchup against the ReHabs. Flour City rallied late in the third period to erase a two goal deficit, with Gary O'Donnell scoring the tying goal in the game's final minute to force overtime. After a scoreless extra frame the game went to a shootout, where Scott Ward scored the game winner to send the team to the championship.
Flour City avenged their only defeat in the tournament by beating Warriors 5-1 in the final game.
Three star honors for the tournament went to Frankie Golojuch (84 saves, .913 pct), Karyn Bower (3G, 4A), and Scott Ward (2G, 4A, 4 PIM).
